Thanksgiving is for the Birds...Here's to an early start on Christmas Cheer

Yes, I am aware that Fall has just begun, and the Thanksgiving Turkeys have not even been slaughtered yet.  Besides my fear of all things bird, I am not the hugest fan of Thanksgiving.  I do celebrate it, and I love anything to do with eating, drinking, and being surrounded by loved ones.  So, I will choose to leave it at that, instead of getting on my proverbial soap box and stating all of the reasons why I wish the Holiday of Thanksgiving did not exist.
With that being said, I LOVE fall decor, however, currently do not have the storage/budget to decorate for every season and Holiday.  So instead, I thought since I have the day off today, I could get an early start on Christmas instead of cleaning the house {any excuse will do}!  Here are some cute ideas I found to brighten the Christmas cheer without denting the bank account.

So how cute is this idea???  An advent calendar for family activities.  ie.  Play a game together, make cookies together, watch a movie together, go for a walk outside, make a Christmas craft...

Help bring cheer to your neighborhood,  (wink wink...get in good with the neighbors)

Although we do not yet have children, I might just have to have a play date with some of my girlfriends' kiddos for these...

I found this on my cousin kate's Pintrest account.  The kids open an ornament each day to hang on the Christmas tree.  Adorable.

Save bottle tops to make fridge magnets

Make cute cards and help fine motor skills

Gift for their classmates...

Here are some fun pics I found of Holiday decor...

Should have done this in Alaska. :)

For those of us without mantles.

A good way to store tree ornaments....

Shutters!
Wondering what to do with all of the Christmas cards you receive?  Here some ideas...
Love the lantern idea

Sub Christmas cards in place of pics...

Love this...
I suppose I should now utilize my day off by cleaning the house and grocery shopping.  Bah Humbug.
